Head of School
Tim Eyerman joined BASIS in 2012 as a Latin and Classics teacher at BASIS Phoenix. Prior to teaching at BASIS Phoenix, Mr. Eyerman taught for 5 years in Arizona and served on the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools. In 2013 Mr. Eyerman became the Upper School Director and College Counselor at BASIS Phoenix and the founding Head of School for BASIS Phoenix Central before coming to BASIS DC in 2015. Mr. Eyerman earned his Bachelor of Arts in History with a Latin minor from Allegheny College. Mr. Eyerman also earned two Masters of Education in secondary education as well as administration. Outside of school, Mr. Eyerman loves to run, camp, and visit as many National Parks as possible. Tim has loved his time in DC and is very grateful for all of the parents who have helped him navigate the Metro.
Head of Operations
Heather Vita joined BASIS in 2010 as the Head of Operations Assistant at BASIS Scottsdale. In 2013, she opened BASIS Ahwatukee and transitioned into the role of Director of Academic Programs. In summer 2015 she relocated to Washington, D.C. and assumed the role of Head of Operations. Ms. Vita earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Communication from Arizona State University and is pursuing her Masters in Human Resources Management. Prior to BASIS, her previous experience includes working for a non-profit organization that specialized in sustainability. Outside of school, Ms. Vita enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time with her family.
Director of Student Affairs
Portia Sardik joined BASIS DC in 2012. She has had many roles throughout the school, and is currently the Director of Student Affairs. Ms. P as she is known, has been dedicated to the BASIS DC's families and students since the beginning. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Speech Language Pathology and is pursuing her Masters of Education and Supervision. Prior to BASIS, Ms. P taught in the Hampton City Public School System. Outside of school, Ms. P enjoys traveling, reading, shopping, and spending time with family.
Director of Academic Programs
Elan Dalton joined BASIS DC in 2014 as a Biology and Engineering teacher. In 2016, he became the school's Director of Academic Programs. Prior to joining BASIS, Mr. Dalton earned his Master's degrees in Physiology (University of Florida), Biology (Virginia Tech), and Secondary Education (American University), while teaching part-time in grade schools and colleges to fund his studies. Outside of school, Mr. Dalton loves to play hockey, garden, and enjoy meals with his family.
Director of Student Affairs
Ira Luke joined BASIS DC in 2016 as the Director of Student Affairs with a focus on Student Intervention. For the past 10 years, he has served in various roles in school leadership from College Counselor to Dean of Students in high performing charter schools in Philadelphia, Newark, N.J. and Washington, D.C. Mr. Luke's passion is to serve others and ensure our students are prepared academically and socially to reach their maximum potential. Mr. Luke was attracted to BASIS because of the high expectations and academic rigor. Mr. Luke graduated from Susquehanna University with a BA in Communications. When he is not at school, Mr. Luke enjoys being with his family, playing sports, embracing debate, and watching countless episodes of Law & Order: SVU.
Director of External Affairs
Alice Randall joined BASIS Washington DC in 2015 as Director of External Affairs. Ms. Randall earned her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Business Administration from Virginia State University and her Masters in Administration from George Washington University. Her previous experience includes working for a Title I DC Public Charter, previous teaching experience in Virginia Public Schools, and tutoring with a DC based SES organization. Outside of school, Ms. Randall enjoys reading, bass fishing, motorcycle riding, and performing community service with her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta.
