If you are interested in receiving updates on this possibility, please join our interest list.
BASIS DC opened in 2012 to Grades 5-8 in a beautiful school near the National Portrait Gallery. BASIS DC will add a grade each year until expanding to serve Grades 5-12, mirroring the design of our nationally ranked sister campuses. In the heart of our nation’s capital, BASIS DC provides an unparalleled, enriching community where students work hard to pursue genuine understanding.
The BASIS DC Lower School focuses on establishing the deep knowledge base necessary to prepare for the rigorous demands of our college-preparatory curriculum. Lower School students master the foundations of language, math, and science by taking courses like Latin, chemistry, biology, and physics as distinct disciplines. By seventh grade, students begin studying a second language and are exposed to principles of formal logic to bolster critical thinking and problem-solving skills at an early age.
The BASIS Upper School, beginning in eighth grade, is consistently ranked in the Top 10 high school programs in the country by U.S. News, Newsweek, and The Washington Post. Upper School students take Honors and Advance Placement courses across the academic spectrum. By mastering a wide array of material, graduates of the BASIS DC Upper School will establish themselves as prime candidates for the most selective institutions of higher learning and go on to become advanced scholars, professionals, and lifelong learners.
